SOURCE: incorrect fuel gauge reading or no reading While it could be a bad gauge , as it’s an electric gauge , most likely it’s the sending unit inside the gas tank. Make sure your fuses are good, and your ground wires are clean and tight, especially under the car.

2/19/2010 · Navigate via the Mode button to the fuel remaining screen and keep an eye on this as you’re driving, when the fuel gauge drops to nothing see what the dash says. If it too shows 0L then there is a problem with the sender. If it shows x L remaining then it is a problem with the gauge. I’m tipping the former.
I too have found the recall for the VY fuel gauge to be a total disaster. Before the update mine was reasonably accurate & afterwards it was all over the place. I mainly look at the Lt/100km page & pre-recall it was within +/- 0.5Lt. Post recall it was as far as 5lt/100km’s out.
